Mark Seymour was the first Nikon UK ambassador of Wedding Photography and has won many award for his twenty years of work. He says that, despite this, the most rewarding thing about his job is when a couple trusts him to make memories for them that their future family can enjoy for a lifetime.

We at Weddingly are proud to showcase Mark Seymour’s artful, moving photography of this lovely same-sex couple whose wedding seemed to be filled with love and magic, perfectly captured by Mark throughout . Here is how he described the day:

Cliveden House: What A Wonderful Wedding Venue

Cliveden House is a Grade 1 stately home in Taplow; a magnificent country house in Berkshire with a reputation for its glamorous guests and famous love affairs. It is the ultimate location for an enchanting wedding. The fairy-tale architecture, lavish rooms and the breath-taking grounds are the perfect backdrop for a small romantic wedding. They can provide the setting for an intimate civil partnership or the most extravagant wedding for could imagine, with a bespoke package and exclusive hire of the house. Supported by Cliveden’s wedding planner and team, your day is guaranteed a personal and elegant touch. I am very proud for my long-standing association as a preferred supplier of photography for Cliveden.

This lovely couple’s April wedding was a small and intimate affair to celebrate the marriage of Simon and Darren in the beautiful Boudoir Room.

The Husbands To Be

Simon and Darren met at work five years ago. Simon bought a ring ready to propose to Darren on a romantic holiday to St Lucia to meet his family, but, before he could ask, Darren surprised him with asking Simon to become his husband.

On their wedding day, these two lovely guys got ready separately in two of the hotel’s traditional classic rooms, perfect for a few natural, un-posed getting ready shots. Both grooms wore matching blue suits with Ox and Bull bow tie cufflinks. Darren also had the scarf that Simon had given him on one of their first dates. Both grooms were incredibly emotional shedding tears of joy during the service. They exchanged platinum wedding bands and the two became husband and husband in this lovely gay wedding at Cliveden.

Setting the scene

The rooms were dressed for the wedding service with chairs either side of the aisle. The opulent, gilded room was softly lit by candles in lanterns hanging from two sun-bleached tree displays with floral bases, with matching flowers scattered on the Blomster Designs table.

After the ceremony, the couple enjoyed champagne and canapes with their guests whilst the Cliveden team rearranged the room with an oval table for the wedding meal.

Documenting the day

Simon and Darren wanted their day photographed naturally capturing all the emotions and magic moments they would share with their family and friends. I took photographs to record the special details they had planned for their day, and some groups of the couple with their loved ones, but the majority of the day was taken with documentary style photography.

We took some special shots of the two of them, holding hands throughout the wedding ceremony, then afterwards together with Cliveden as their background and making use of the light at dusk to create some stunning intimate portraits of the couple. The whole day was full of emotion and love, and it was an honour to photograph this same-sex wedding for Simon and Darren, and wish them a very happy future together.
